Dr. Alan Israel, MD, award-winning Oncologist and Hematologist, has served as Hospice Medical Director of Hospice at Bergen Community Health Care for more than eighteen years, delivering compassionate and expert pain relief and comfort care to thousands of patients.

Patricia Hutzelman, RN, MS, founded Hospice at Bergen Community Health Care and served as its Administrator until 2006. In 2005, she was given the Administrator of the Year award by the New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Donna Bott is an award-winning hospice volunteer, helping hundreds of patients over thousands of hours. She also served as Hospice Community Educator for many years-personally determined that people learn what hospice care is and that end-of-life need not be a horrific time for the patient or the family.

Wendy Megerman began as a hospice volunteer and then worked as Volunteer Coordinator, Bereavement Coordinator, Fundraiser, and served in many administrative capacities over her thirteen year tenure at Bergen Community Health Care and Hospice.

We four are dedicated to opening and running a not-for-profit community hospice-an agency for the community and of the community. We are asking our community to fund it, to support it and, when needed, to use it.
